Avoid Fraud

I will stop fraudsters, keep money safe
Awareness is the first and best tool to prevent fraud. So always keep few things in mind, only then your money will be safe:

No matter what anyone says, I will never say or type the OTP/PIN of Bkash account
If the officer shows fear/greed, I will cut the call
I will cut the call if the agent forgets that the money has arrived
If you want to give donation or allowance by phone, I will cut the call
I will not listen when asked to go to the link of allowance/gift online
Bikash is always striving and determined to provide fraud and risk free digital financial services to customers. Our mission is to be vigilant and create awareness to protect your money and personal information and avoid fraud. You can learn more about the ways in which fraudsters can lure you into a fraud trap from the following fraud patterns and take the necessary precautions to avoid fraud.

Types of fraud

Fake call saying Bikash account has been closed
Fraudster calls you as a fake BKash agent or customer and complains to BKash claiming that your account has been blocked by mistake instead of another BKash account. The fraudster also said that he has already informed the Vikas authorities and an officer of Vikas will contact you to unblock the account. Then someone posing as a fake development representative can call you on the pretext of unblocking the account and grab the verification code (OTP) and PIN (PIN) received in your message and can harm you financially.

Fake calls or messages about grants/allowances/stipends
Fraudsters ask you to call certain numbers or direct calls with fake information such as: stipend, old age allowance, government grant, rural electricity facility. Next, you will be asked to provide/dial the verification code (OTP) and your development PIN (PIN) received in the message to verify your account. Also asks you to go to an agent point and cash in your number. If you are persuaded and do as they say, you can become a victim of fraud.

Account Update/Information Update
Fraudulent development representatives call/message and collect required confidential information from you by persuading you with various information (eg: launching new services, updating information) or threatening (eg: account information will be terminated if not updated) . If you share the OTP and PIN after being prompted, your account is under the control of fraudsters.

IMO/Messenger/WhatsApp
Fraudster lures you with fake information by messaging someone you know on Sage IMO/Messenger/WhatsApp or by hacking someone's IMO/Messenger account and sending messages from that account. Then asks you to send money/cash in to a bkash number given by them. If you cash in or send money on request without verifying the authenticity of the event, you will be a victim of fraud.

Accident fake news
Scammers may call you by pretending to be a member of law enforcement or impersonating the voice of a relative or acquaintance. Then they mentally blackmail you with any sudden news of accident/death of someone you know or fake information and ask you to send money/cash in for immediate help or assistance. If you send money without verifying the fact, you will be a victim of fraud.

False offers/advertisements
Fraudsters induce through SMS/calls/Facebook post/websites with fake jobs, offers of services or products of BKash or other companies, fake advertisements etc. and for that form fill-up, registration fee or tax/VAT fee or advance money in specific BKash account of customers. Ask to send money/cash out/pay. If you fall into their trap by being tempted, you will be deceived.

Agent DSO Masking or Head Office Officer
Fraudsters call Vikas agents by masking Vikas DSO/SR number or pretending to be Vikas head office officials and lure them with various offers. For example: Activating Agent App/Opening Savings Account/Increasing Commission/Linking Personal Account/Reducing Personal Account Cash Out Charge/Distributing Agent Banner/Poster etc. To activate the offers, ask the agent to go to the Bkash dial option and dial some numbers or cash in a personal number. As a result, they are victims of fraud.

What to do to avoid fraud

Bikash account PIN (PIN) and 6-digit verification code (OTP) received in SMS are your confidential information. Vikas never calls from 16247 or any other number and asks for your PIN and 6-digit verification code (OTP) sent in SMS. So anyone who wants this information will understand that he is a fraud. If someone calls you asking for confidential information, hang up.

Also, the fraudster may call and ask to check the Bkash account balance or may ask to dial your PIN, SMS verification code (OTP) while on the call. Never dial your pin number or the verification code sent in the message while on the phone. Again, instead of asking your PIN directly, it may add/subtract, multiply/divide by a number and ask for that number. If you encounter such an incident, hang up the phone without talking and immediately call 16247 and inform the development authorities. Also, if you are careful about the following things, you will never be a victim of fraud.

Under no circumstances dial Vikas Pin (PIN) or verification code (OTP) received in the message while on the call as per someone's instructions.
If someone asks you to multiply/divide, add/subtract a number without knowing the PIN directly, avoid it.
If someone asks you to check your Bkash account balance while on a call, avoid doing so.
Call new development agents with DSO identity and hang up immediately when the agent asks them to dial something or make a money transaction. And inform him by calling the DSO number saved in your mobile.
If someone you know/stranger asks you to send money immediately by calling or texting on phone or imo/messenger, make sure to verify it first.
If you see any promotional offer or post of Vikas other than the verified online page or website of Vikas, first verify the authenticity of the information by calling the helpline (16247).

What to do if you get cheated
