Open a bKash Account through the bKash App

Bring the items mentioned below to your nearest Digital registration point to open a bKash Account: 

1. Mobile Phone

 Procedure:

1. Go to the bKash app and tap on Login/Register.
2. Select the operator and enter your mobile number.
3. Proceed to the next step with the verification code sent to the mobile number.
4. Read and agree to the terms and proceed ahead.
5. Take a photo of the front and back of your National Identity Card.
6. Check the required information and proceed.
7. Take a picture of your face with the phone's camera.
8. Then submit the information and proceed.
9. Wait for the verification SMS. bKash may take up to 48 hours to verify this information.
10. After receiving the confirmation SMS, PIN must be set within 72 hours. To set a PIN, go to the app and tap on 'Set Your PIN' and confirm with a 5-digit PIN.
11. Now login to the bKash app.

Fill out the account opening form and give your thumb impression and signature.

After opening your bKash account, you need to activate your bKash mobile menu. 

Follow the procedure below to activate your mobile menu:

1. Go to the bKash Mobile menu by dialing *247#.
2. Select “Activate Mobile Menu”.
3. Enter the 5-digit PIN number for the bKash account
4. Enter your PIN number again to confirm

Initially, you will be able to use Cash In, Mobile Recharge & Receive Money services in your new bKash Account. Yes, bKash app uses your phone's internet connection (4G/3G/2G or Wi-Fi, as available).

• Are there any extra data charges for using bKash app?

To avoid any extra data charge, we suggest you to download and use bKash app through a free Wi-Fi network or by buying data packages. You might incur unwanted data charge if you use pay as you go (PAYG).

• Can I use my bKash app outside Bangladesh?

No, you can use your bKash app only in Bangladesh.

• Can I still use USSD channel (*247#), if I have bKash app in my phone?

You can access your bKash account using both bKash app and *247# (USSD) from the same phone.

• Why do I need the bKash app if I can use bKash through USSD?

Using bKash through bKash app is faster, easier and simpler.

bKash App now has a Guest Mode, which will allow non-account holders to explore the features and services bKash has to offer. You will be asked to Log In or Register a New Account before performing any financial transactions.

 

• How to open a bKash account?

You can open a bKash account from the bKash app by choosing New Account Registration. All you will need is your NID. You can fill in the eKYC information yourself. During registration, you are required to scan your NID and take a clear picture of your face with your phone camera.  In most cases, it will take a few minutes (up to 48 hours in exceptional cases) for bKash to verify the information, and open the account.

Your existing bKash account PIN will be your bKash account PIN for the bKash app as well.

• SIM placement

To log in to bKash app, have an active SIM card placed in SIM slot 1 of your handset.

 

• Security
  • Is bKash app secure?

The bKash app is highly secure for all types of transactions.

• Can anyone access my bKash account from the bKash app in my handset and do transactions?

As long as only you know your bKash PIN, and you have the handset (to which, the verification code will be sent) with you, nobody else can access your bKash account from their bKash app.

• What happens if I lose my handset which has bKash app installed in it?

No one will be able to log in to your bKash account without your bKash PIN when your phone is stolen. For your financial security, you will be automatically logged out of the app after a specific period of inactivity and if anyone wants to log in afterwards, s/he must log in with your bKash PIN.

Post-Installation

 

1. Guest Mode

• Open your bKash app from the home screen.
  • Allow bKash to make and manage phone calls, so that bKash app can confirm that you have the active SIM card placed in your handset. bKash needs this information to ensure the financial security aspect.
• Allow bKash to access your location so bKash app can show you relevant offers based on your location and enrich your experience.
• Select your language between Bangla and English. You can change this anytime later from app settings.
• After logging in successfully, you won’t find the guest mode anymore. You will directly land in the log-in screen to input PIN
• You can browse bKash App in Guest Mode and view the following segments on the Home Screen;
  • Core Features Segment - bKash’s core services such as Send Money, Mobile Recharge, Payment, Pay Bill, Cash Out etc are in this segment. In Guest Mode, you will be able to access core features till a certain point before you are prompted to log in (e.g. you can enter Pay Bill, and see the available billers) You need to Log In or Register to perform any financial transactions.
  • Promo Banner - The most prominent of bKash offers at the moment will be shown here, based on your location (both in Guest and Logged-in Mode), when location permission is given. A universal banner that applies to everyone irrespective of the location will be shown in the absence of location data.
  • Offers - This section will contain the different offers (cash back, discounts at Merchant stores, digital payment options like Pathao, Shohoz, offers for ecommerce websites, Mobile Recharge offers, Pay Bill offers, Remittance offers etc.) that are relevant for you based on your location for both Guest Mode and Logged-in Mode. In the absence of location access permission, a universal set applicable for all locations will be shown. You will be able to see the details and information of an offer by tapping on it
  • Explore - It will feature the different use cases of bKash, relating to its network of Merchants, billers, and other partners (e.g. Pay BTCL Bill with bKash, Add Money to bKash from Mastercard). Upon tapping on these items, you will be taken to the relevant flow (e.g. upon tapping on Pay BTCL Bill with bKash, you will be taken to the biller list of Pay Bill, where you will be prompted to log-in).
  • Navigation bar - This bottom navigation bar will include Home, Scan QR, and Inbox features.

 

 

1. Logging in for the first time

• Enter your registered bKash account number.
• You will be sent a Verification Code via SMS.
  • Code will be auto-filled if you use an Android device.
  • If you use an iOS device, you need to confirm the device log in by dialing *247#. You need to complete the log in process in 2 minutes.
  • You will get the verification code within a specific time. If you don’t receive a code, tap on Resend Code. You will receive another code via SMS.

- If your account status is active, you can log in with your valid PIN.

- Accept the Terms and Conditions of the bKash app to continue.

- Choose the language from English or Bangla

• Set your profile picture by taking a photo or choosing one from your phone. Remember, this does not necessarily have to be your Customer KYC photo. You can change this anytime later on from app settings. The app will ask for your permission to access your phone’s camera. Allow the access if you want to take a photo for your profile picture. If you want to choose a photo from your phone’s gallery to set as profile picture, you have to allow the app permission to access your gallery.
• Choose whether you want your profile picture to be visible to other bKash app users.
• Set your profile name. Remember, this does not necessarily have to be your Customer KYC name. This name will be on your app only, and will not be visible to other bKash app users during any transaction. You can change this anytime later on from app settings.
• You are now ready to use your bKash app.
• You can use bKash App in Logged In Mode and view the following segments on the Home Screen;
  1. Core Features Segment - bKash’s core service segment include Send Money, Mobile Recharge, Cash Out and Payment on the first tab, and by swiping left you can see Pay Bill, Add Money and Movie Tickets.
  2. My bKash: This segment will have your most frequently used services and features giving you a quick access and act as shortcuts, making your life easier.
  3. Promo Banner - The most prominent of bKash offers at the moment will be shown here, based on your location, when location permission is given. A universal banner that applies to everyone irrespective of the location will be shown in the absence of location data.
  4. Offers - This section will contain the different offers (cash back, discounts at Merchant stores, digital payment options like Pathao, Shohoz, offers for ecommerce websites, Mobile Recharge offers, Pay Bill offers, Remittance offers etc.) that are relevant for you based on your location. In the absence of location access permission, a universal set applicable for all locations will be shown. You will be able to see the details and information of an offer by tapping on it
  5. Suggestions - It will feature the different use cases of bKash, relating to its network of Merchants, billers, and other partners (e.g. Pay BTCL Bill with bKash). Upon tapping on these items, you will be taken to the relevant flow (e.g. upon tapping on Pay BTCL Bill with bKash, you will be taken to the biller list of Pay Bill).

1. Registration

 

• Tap on Log In / New Account Registration
• Select New Account Registration from the bottom modal
• Enter Phone Number
• Select your current MNO
• Enter Verification Code sent to your number visa SMS to proceed ( Verification code will auto apply in android phones)
• Choose your preferred language from English or Bangla
• Select I Agree after viewing Terms and Conditions
• You can view Help Texts and select Take NID Photos to proceed
• Place the front side of your NID inside the frame and take a clear picture. Select Submit to proceed to take picture of the back-side of NID. If picture is not clear, select Return and take the picture again. Select Submit again after taking a clear picture of the back-side to proceed.
• Review the NID information that is auto-populated from the NID picture and select Next to proceed
• Fill Additional Information such as your Source of Fund, Occupation, etc.
• View instructions on how to take photo and select Take a Photo
• Face the camera, make sure you have adequate lighting, hold the camera with your face placed within the frame. Your face will be scanned and the photo will be taken automatically.
• Select Confirm to submit all the information
• Once your account is created, you can log in using your account number (the phone number used to register the account).

 

- PIN setting steps;

• *247#> Activate bKash Menu> Enter 5 digit PIN> Confirm PIN
• You can log in to bKash app by using your account number (the phone number used to register the account) and your PIN.

 

1. Logging Out

• Tap on the bKash menu (bKash bird) on the top-right corner.
• Tap on Log Out.
• Select Yes to log out; No to stay in the app.

 

1. Auto Logout (Session Timeout)

• For your financial security, you will be automatically logged out of the app after 5 minutes of inactivity.
• You will have to log in again using your bKash PIN.

 

1. Repeat Login

After first time onboarding, simply input your bKash PIN to log in for every future occasion.

 

1. Checking Balance

• Tap on the Tap for Balance icon below your profile name on the home screen.
• Your current balance will appear, and will disappear after a few seconds to ensure your data protection.

 

1. Cash In/Add Money

• You can go to your nearest Agent point to cash in (add e-money to your bKash wallet), to be able to enjoy other bKash services.
• Or you can choose to add money from your bank account or card, without going to an Agent point

 

1. Send Money Process

• Tap on Send Money icon from home screen.
• For the first time, the app will ask for your permission to access your phone contacts. Allow bKash app to access your phone contacts, if you want to easily select any number from your contacts for Send Money.
• Enter name or select recipient from your contacts or input number. If there are multiple numbers saved against one contact, tap on “See All Numbers”, and then select the desired number. For Send Money, the recipient has to be a registered bKash customer with an active account status.
• Enter amount on the next screen. Your available balance is shown below for your convenience.
• Reference is optional. You can enter letters, numbers and space within 50 characters.
• Enter your bKash PIN.
• Unlike USSD, the transaction is not complete yet. Check the recipient’s information, total amount (including the service charge), projected new balance if the transaction goes through, and the reference (if any). If you need to change anything, you can go back and edit. If everything seems fine, Tap and Hold for a few seconds to confirm the transaction.
  • If the transaction is successful, you will receive a confirmation receipt.
  • If the transaction fails, you will see the relevant error message.

 

1. Mobile Recharge

• Tap on Mobile Recharge icon from home screen.
• For the first time, the app will ask for your permission to access your phone contacts. Allow bKash app to access your phone contacts, if you want to easily select any number from your contacts for Mobile Recharge.
• Select your own number under My Account tab, if you want to recharge your own mobile number.
• If you want to recharge another person’s mobile number, enter name or select recipient from your contacts or input number. If there are multiple numbers saved against one contact, tap on “See All Numbers”, and then select the desired number.
• Select mobile operator of the desired number. This will be the default mobile operator for the selected number. If the operator is switched, you will have to change it from the amount screen, by tapping on the edit button on the operator logo
• Select amount from the Mobile Recharge amount shortcuts or manually enter amount on the next screen. Your available balance is shown below for your convenience. You can avail recharge-based internet, voice and bundle offers of the selected mobile operator (MNOs available at this time are; Airtel, Banglalink, Grameenphone, Robi and Teletalk numbers.
• To avail a bundle, voice or internet offer, you have to select your preferred offer from any of the tabs.
• Most offers are for prepaid users. If there is any postpaid offer, it will be marked as a postpaid
• Select Prepaid or Postpaid according to your mobile subscription type.
• Enter your bKash PIN.
• Unlike USSD, the transaction is not complete yet. Check the recipient’s information, total amount, projected new balance if the transaction goes through, selected mobile subscription type, and the network operator. If you need to change anything, you can go back and edit. If everything seems fine, Tap and Hold for a few seconds to submit your Mobile Recharge request.
  • If the transaction is successful, you will receive a confirmation receipt.
  • If the transaction fails, you will see the relevant error message.

 

1. Cash Out Process

• Tap on Cash Out icon from home screen.
• Enter Agent number or select from Recent or Saved Agents or simply scan the QR Code at Agent point to automatically enter the Agent number.
  • To scan QR Code, tap on the Tap to Scan QR Code button. The app will ask for your permission to access your phone’s camera, if it has not been allowed already. Allow the access to be able to scan the QR code. When you see a scan box, hold the phone in front of the Agent point’s QR code. The Agent name and number will be auto-populated and you will be navigated to the Amount screen
• Enter amount on the next screen. Your available balance is shown below for your convenience.
• Enter your bKash PIN.
• Unlike USSD, the transaction is not complete yet. Check the Agent information, total amount (including the service charge), and projected new balance if the transaction goes through. If you need to change anything, you can go back and edit. If everything seems fine, Tap and Hold for a few seconds to confirm the transaction.
  • If the transaction is successful, you will receive a confirmation receipt.
  • If the transaction fails, you will see the relevant error message.
• You can also save the Agent number for future transactions along with the Agent’s name.

 

1. Add Money (Bank to bKash)

• Tap on Add Money icon from home screen.
• Select Bank to bKash.
• Select your preferred bank from the list. You can access the internet banking of your preferred bank from here
• The bank’s log-in page will open in phone’s browser. Log in and transfer funds to any valid bKash customer account in respective bank’s process.
• If you face any problems (log-in, transfer of funds etc.) after opening the bank’s log-in page in the browser, you have to contact your respective bank’s customer support.
• If you transfer funds from the bank’s internet baking platform successfully, you will get a notification in bKash app. You can tap it to see the detailed page. Or you can find the notification later in the notification panel, where you can select ‘”See More” button to see the detailed page.

 

1. Add Money (Card to bKash)

• Tap on Add Money icon from home screen.
• Select Card to bKash.
• Select My Account if you want to Add Money from card to your bKash account. If you want Add Money to other account, select Other Account and enter recipient’s bKash account number.
• Enter the amount you want to add to the selected bKash account and tap continue.
• Enter card number, cardholder’s name, expiry date and CCV of your card and tap continue.
• You will be sent a One-Time Password (OTP) via SMS and/or email on file. If you don’t get the OTP, tap on ‘click here to receive another code’.
• Enter the One-Time Password and tap on Submit.
  • If the transaction is successful, you will receive a confirmation receipt.
  • If the transaction fails, you will see the relevant error message.

 

1. Make Payment Process

• Tap on Make Payment icon from home screen.
• Enter Merchant number or select from Recent or Saved Payments or simply scan the QR Code at Merchant point to automatically enter the Merchant number.
  • To scan QR Code, tap on the Tap to Scan QR Code button. The app will ask for your permission to access your phone’s camera, if it has not been allowed already. Allow the access to be able to scan the QR code. When you see a scan box, hold the phone in front of the Merchant point’s QR code. The Merchant name, number and logo (in some cases) will be auto-populated and you will be navigated to the Amount screen
• Enter amount on the next screen. Your available balance is shown below for your convenience.
• Enter your bKash PIN.
• Reference is optional. You can enter letters, numbers and space within 50 characters.
• Unlike USSD, the transaction is not complete yet. Check the Merchant information, total amount, projected new balance if the transaction goes through, and the reference (if any). If you need to change anything, you can go back and edit. If everything seems fine, Tap and Hold for a few seconds to confirm the transaction.
  • If the transaction is successful, you will receive a confirmation receipt.
  • If the transaction fails, you will see the relevant error message.
• In case of successful transactions, you can save the transaction for future payments.

 

1. Pay Bill

• Tap Pay Bill icon from home screen.
• Select the biller from the list.
• Enter your biller account number and required information.
• Select bill amount from shortcut or enter bill amount manually.
• Check due amount and due date and tap confirm button.
• Enter your bKash PIN.
• Unlike USSD, the transaction is not complete yet. Check the recipient’s information, total amount (including the service charge), projected new balance if the transaction goes through, and the reference (if any). If you need to change anything, you can go back and edit. If everything seems fine, Tap and Hold for a few seconds to confirm the transaction.
  • If the transaction is successful, you will receive a confirmation receipt.
  • If the transaction fails, you will see the relevant error message.

 

• Pay Bill Process Prepaid (e.g DESCO)
• Tap Pay Bill icon from home screen.
• Select DESCO (Prepaid) from the list.
• Enter bill account number and your contact number.
• Enter bill amount from shortcuts or enter amount manually on the next screen. Your available balance is shown below for your convenience.
• Review bill breakdown and tap confirm button.
• Enter your bKash PIN.
  • Unlike USSD, the transaction is not complete yet. Check the recipient’s information, total amount (including the service charge), projected new balance if the transaction goes through, and the reference (if any). If you need to change anything, you can go back and edit. If everything seems fine, Tap and Hold for a few seconds to confirm the transaction.
  • If the transaction is successful, you will receive a confirmation receipt.

• Pay Bill Process Postpaid (e.g NESCO)
• Tap Pay Bill icon from home screen.
• Select NESCO (Postpaid) from the list.
• Enter bill account number.
• Check due amount and due date and tap confirm button.
• Enter your bKash PIN.
• Unlike USSD, the transaction is not complete yet. Check the recipient’s information, total amount (including the service charge), projected new balance if the transaction goes through, and the reference (if any). If you need to change anything, you can go back and edit. If everything seems fine, Tap and Hold for a few seconds to confirm the transaction.

• Tap on Movie Tickets icon from home screen
• Select Movie Theater
• Right now you can avail this service from Blockbuster Cinemas only.
• Select show details:
• Choose your preferred movie
• Choose Show Date
• Choose Theater
• Choose Show Time
• Choose Seat Class
• Choose No of Seats to be purchased (You can purchase maximum 10 tickets per transaction)
• Enter 11 digit Mobile Number to receive confirmation from Blockbuster Cinemas
• Review selected show details and total amount to be paid to Blockbuster Cinemas
• Click on ‘Pay Now’ for initiating payment
• Complete payment by entering bKash Account Number, Verification Code and bKash PIN in the payment page.

• Ticket Purchase Confirmation

• Ticket Confirmation Page in bKash App: You can see ticket confirmation success page in bKash App along with Ticket Number.
  • PRO TIP: We recommend you to take a screenshot of the Ticket Confirmation page that is shown to you from bKash App. This page contains the Ticket Number and will come handy if you somehow miss SMS from Blockbuster Cinemas.
• SMS Confirmation from Blockbuster Cinemas: You will receive SMS confirmation from Blockbuster Cinemas in your given mobile number in Movie Ticket Information Entry Page

 

• Entry to the Theater

You will get an entry with a physical ticket by showing your e-ticket/SMS that you received from Blockbuster Cinemas after purchase of ticket from bKash App.

 

• Is there a charge/fee for booking tickets from bKash App?

bKash provides the movie ticket purchase service absolutely free of cost to its valued users. However, Blockbuster Cinemas charges a convenience fee for processing online ticket. The charge is shown in the breakdown of total amount to be paid.

 

• What should I do if I haven’t received booking confirmation from Blockbuster?/ What if the amount has been deducted but order has failed?

• If you receive a successful payment confirmation from bKash through SMS and In App Notification of successful payment but did not receive the confirmation SMS with Ticket Details from Blockbuster Cinemas, contact Online ticket support hotline +8809639883304 (10 AM to 8PM) or email at [email protected].
• To verify purchase of ticket you will have to provide your given mobile number (that you entered in Movie Ticket Information Entry Page), bKash Payment Transaction ID and details of the selected movie ticket information.

 

• How ahead of time can I buy movie tickets from Blockbuster Cinemas?

From Thursday 5 PM onwards you can buy tickets for up to next Thursday; On Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday you can buy tickets till Thursday.

 

• Can I change my ticket dates, ticket category seat number or show timing?

Sorry, ticket dates, ticket category seat number or show timing cannot be changed after booking is confirmed.

 

• Can I cancel tickets booked online and claim a refund?

Sorry, as per policy of Blockbuster Cinemas, tickets once booked, cannot be replaced, cancelled or refunded.

 

• Why do I sometimes see tickets for a back date or time?

This happens sometimes when show dates are not updated in real time. So, we recommend you to be meticulous when selecting Show Time.

In Logged In mode, you can use Scan QR feature as a quick access to the relevant transaction flow for Cash Out and Payment. By scanning a Merchant or Agent QR, you can go directly to Enter Amount screen of the relevant flow, faster than typing or selecting their account number

• You can access Inbox by tapping on the mail icon from Navigation Bar of the home screen to check Promo notifications and Transaction notifications.
• You can see Promo notification’s tab by default when you enter Inbox. You can swipe left to see Transaction notification’s tab.
• Inbox tabs will contain 50 transaction notifications at a time, with the most recent notifications on top.
• You can see details of Promo notification by tapping on the promo notification. You can see details of a notification by tapping on the Details button

• Tap on Statements from the bKash menu.
• You can see the details of your last 30 days’ transaction history.
• You can see the current month and the previous 2 months’ transaction summary.

    • Scan QR code for easier Cash Out and Make Payment.
  • Gallery: So that you can select a photo from your phone’s gallery to set as your bKash app profile picture.
  • Make and Manage Phone Calls: So that bKash app can confirm that you have the active SIM card placed in your handset. bKash needs this information to ensure the financial security aspect.
  • Location: So bKash app can show you relevant offers and enrich your experience.

 

1. Device Lockout

• If you enters an incorrect PIN for 2 consecutive times during app log-in, you will be barred from using the app in that device for 6 hours, during which period you can continue using the USSD.

 

• When you are locked out of bKash app and USSD channel after entering incorrect PIN for 2 consecutive times, please wait 6 hours to log in again. If PIN is locked for longer than 6 hours, call bKash helpline 16247 or visit any bKash Center or bKash Plus to unlock your PIN and continue using bKash app again.

1. Why do I get the error message “The app works only in Bangladesh” while signing in to bKash app even if I am in Bangladesh?

Check if your Wi-Fi is connected to another’s country’s server through VPN or similar technology. If you are still not getting connected through WIFI, please try to enable your mobile data to access the bKash app for better service.

 

1. If my data connection goes away in the middle of a transaction, then what will be the result?

You may have to re-initiate the transaction. Please be assured that if the transaction amount is deducted from your balance, it means the transaction has gone through, even if you cannot see a confirmation receipt due to network failure. You can always check your Transaction History from Statements to confirm the transaction.

 

1. If I did not allow permission to access contacts/gallery/camera the first time, what will happen? If I want to allow the permission later, what will be the steps?

bKash app will display message prompts for enabling relevant permission, if user has not allowed permission before. User can then follow the in-app instructions to enable the permission.

 

1.   What will I do if I receive “Error” message when scanning QR code? (So far problem is specific to Huawei handset only)

If user receives an Error message when scanning QR code for Make Payment or Cash Out; user can clear cache for Google Play Services by going to their phone setting. Settings > Apps > Google Play Services > Clear Cache

1. What are the new features in the new Bkash app?

Sir/Madam the new bKash App has all the latest features. Even if you don’t have a bKash account, you can know about all the offers and services through this app. Apart from that, now you can open your own bKash account all by yourself with the bKash app . However, to get all the services and offers, you must login to the bKash app. By logging in, you will further simplify both your bKash app experience and your life by availing a few new sections - like Amar bKash (My bKash), Offers, and Suggestions. To fasten up transaction time, a button QR scan has been added under the home screen. In the new app, there is also inbox under the home screen, from where you can view current promotions (offers and other announcements), and your recent transactions.

2. How will I open a bKash account through the bKash app?

Sir/Madam, close the app using Task Manager. Check if your mobile data/Wi-Fi connection is working. Then launch the app once again.

Additional Information

• When opening an account from the new bKash app, only use the front camera when taking your photograph. Other options are not applicable.
• When opening an account from the new bKash app, it usually takes a few minutes to get confirmation after registration. However, it might take up to 48 hours in exceptional cases. If it takes more time you may have to complain.
• When logging into the new bKash app, the limit for the verification code (OTP) ending is 30 seconds.
• You can view the information about transactions of the current month and the two previous months as a brief transaction statement.
